2 -scuola media-
I go to secondary school. -

9 -how ever o however; what ever o whatever?-
Nota d'usoA volte è un problema decidere se scrivere however, whatever, ecc., o how ever, what ever, ecc. Se ever viene usato con how, what, ecc. per esprimere sorpresa o incredulità, si possono trovare due parole separate: How ever did you find out? come mai lo hai scoperto? What ever did she say? che cosa può aver detto? Se il significato di however, whatever, ecc. è “non importa come, cosa, ecc.”, si scrivono preferibilmente come una sola parola: Whatever you decide to do, it will be difficult, qualsiasi cosa (“non importa cosa”) tu decida di fare, sarà difficile. I'll follow you wherever you go, ti seguirò ovunque (“non importa dove”) andrai.English-Italian dictionary > -how ever o however; what ever o whatever?-

10 -problem o issue?-
Issue è meno forte e possiede una connotazione meno negativa di problem; spesso può indicare dei punti di discussione: At the moment the premises of the show are an issue, al momento il problema è la sede dello spettacolo. A volte issue, specialmente al plurale, viene usato, anche eufemisticamente, per indicare i problemi psicologici di una persona: He has to deal with his relatioship issues, deve affrontare i suoi problemi di relazione. Problem viene utilizzato invece quando si tratta di problemi di difficile soluzione: The main problem now is that the roads are icy and dangerous, il problema principale ora è che le strade sono ghiacciate e pericolose. -
11 -sempre piu…-
è sempre più bello) non va tradotta letteralmente con “to be always more” + aggettivo. La costruzione inglese è: “to get (o to become) + due volte l'aggettivo al grado comparativo”: Gli esami sono sempre più facili, exams are getting easier and easier (non exams are always easier). Se il comparativo si forma con “more”, quest'ultimo va raddoppiato: Risparmiare è sempre più difficile, saving money is getting more and more difficult. -
12 -travel, journey o trip?-
Journey viene di solito usato per viaggi piuttosto lunghi: How was your journey?, com'è andato il viaggio?; It was a long and difficult journey through the mountains, è stato un viaggio lungo e difficile attraverso le montagne. Sia journey che trip vengono spesso usati con la preposizione on: We went on a trip to Salisbury, siamo andati in gita a Salisbury. -
